yeah.
HERE'S WHAT I ACCOMPLISHED:
- cleaned out the inside (10 years of dust, so much vacuuming)
- replaced old as forget memory (so small it was in mb) with a newer one of a reasonable 3gb, it was hard finding a chip/card/whatever that could properly fit the contacts
- installed and used CCleaner to get rid of the hundred or so registry errors and unneeded temporary files
- replaced old as hell ethernet cord that wraps around my entire living room with a wireless receiver (Cisco Aironet 802.11a/b/g Wireless Adapter)
it used to freeze every 10 or so seconds for 2 or so seconds and it took about an hour to fully boot up and function without these before crashing anyway.
now it run as smooth as my new Lenovo laptop. really the only thing left to do is maybe put in a new GPU (it uses an old as hell Intel chipset so i don't even know how well that'll go) and, assuming it is at all possible, install 7 or at least vista. anything is better than xp.
if you have any advice, please gimme. also feel free to discuss your own computer revivals.
