Author Topic: CaptMeat is a stuffty admin  (Read 4316 times)

I was playing on Crown's jail rpg to pass some time before south park comes on, and everything is fine except I can't help but notice the fact that the prisoners can never win because the guards have a geographical advantage. The structure of Crown's prison is so that any guard overlooking a wall can shoot any target that is:
  • Outside of the cells or cafeteria
  • In the yard/gym area
  • Near the gate
Additionally, the guards sniper rifles deal almost lethal damage when the target is shot in the head, so the prisoners never won during the 10-20 games I played before I was banned by CaptMeat. So I guess I should elaborate on how that happened.

First of all, CaptMeat prior to our discussion on the game setup, was doing a fairly nice job at administrating the server. However, trouble arose when I tried to votekick Jetz for seemingly killing me out of the blue in the lunch room, completely unprovoked. He canceled the votekick and I asked him why. He responded by explaining that I had killed a guard earlier, so Jetz had the right to shoot and kill me regardless of whether I surrender or not.

My defending argument was that Jetz had not directly seen me kill another guard, so him knowing that I killed someone constitutes as, "Metagaming.  CaptMeat responded:

(This was his first response after I brought up the subject of Metagaming. This dialogue did not take place after I continued to argue for my point. I promise)

The solution I presented was that the server enforces a rule that states that you cannot kill a prisoner unless you actually observe them attacking or killing another guard. I related this solution to the garry's mod jail servers (Which is what these jailrp servers are actually based off of) and said that those use the same system.

CaptMeat responds:

So then I respond with something like, "you idiot, this whole gamemode is based off of garrymod jail roleplaying servers". A bit off kilter from how you should speak to an admin, but my point was in essence, completely correct.

After a short recollection, I list some problems with the balance of power in the two teams such as,
  • Not enough keys to find
  • People metagaming
  • Geography of prison is impossible to survive

Which then he responds to a completely irrelevant portion of my argument which is that he is annoyed by people saying, "Metagaming". This sounds like I'm making it up so I'm going to put a picture below this.

Afterwards a short period of dialogue ensues debating whether the word Sandvich is related to Valve and if my name is based on Tf2, but that's not exactly relevant. The last significant portion of chat that I'll show is where he basically ends the argument with a petty insult, so I figured the only reasonable response to make would be something petty and stupid as well:

And then I was banned for 5 minutes with no reason which sort of disappointed me because I was expecting the reason to be a last-minute retort to the last thing I said.

Anyway, back to my original point, CaptMeat is incapable of making statements without letting insults and opinions dilute what could have been a great discussion on improving the gamemode, and therefore he is a bad admin.

Hey he's right, how do you expect to surrender after killing a damn guard?

you missed the point. They only know that someone kills a guard because of the combat notifications that get listed in the top right corner.

The person who sees it didn't actually observe the murder, just viewed the notification from it. Which counts as metagaming. There are plenty of instances in Jail RPGs on Gmod in which a guard knows that a prisoner is disguised as a guard, but the guard is not allowed to kill the prisoner due to the fact that it would be metagaming.

My mistake, I actually didn't read the entire thing yet and I posted way too fast.

This happens all the time. Why is this such a big deal?

You Know CaptainMeat Freekilled Me Mutiple Times On This Server And No He Didnt Get In Any Trouble And Nothing Happened And The Freekilling Just Went Right On.

JailRP is based on the counter-strike jailrp, not gmod.
Things change between games, jailrp is pretty stupid in this game and is basically just a team deathmatch.

this is an example of an indirect but completely dismissive post.

this falls within, "Don't care don't post".

Your argument is that it's alright because many people do it. Your argument is handicapped. Here's why:

JailRP is based on the counter-strike jailrp
That's actually what I meant to say, but I didn't establish the connection fully because I play more gmod then CS:S and most people use CS:S bodies in gmod lol.

thanks for the clarification.

What is it with cool people turning into extreme idiots nowadays?

It's not a don't care don't post, post. It happens all the time and I am damn sure it had happen to you before, why make a drama topic about it now? you've probably done it too.

You're asking why it's a big deal, which indicates that you're essentially saying, "Why does anyone care?"

the CapTMeaT is always right.

You're asking why it's a big deal, which indicates that you're essentially saying, "Why does anyone care?"
Then I'm obviously not getting specific enough, I'm asking why is it a big deal to you.

gonna have to side with meat here. kill notifications on means fair game. if you don't like it, find a server that turns them on.

er, turns them off
