At least in SMP, Strongholds are HAUNTED. I went to the EXACT coordinates of the Stronghold, ended up inside a wall of a room. One way was just a cave, decided not to go that way. I went up the stairs. "... Wall?" I decided mining it might find more Stronghold. I dig about three blocks in the center, then decided to start setting up torches like I do to remember where I've been. I turn around, place a torch above the stairs. Turn back, place a torch on the right wall. Turn left, place a torch on the left wall. I turn back to the wall I was mining, I see a hallway turning right. First thought: Facing wrong way. Second thought: Wrong way in the stairs. Third thought: Frantically look around trying to figure out what just happened. It turned into a hallway! Worst part is, it happened a few more times, things changing in the split second I wasn't looking at them. It even happened right in front of my eyes. Almost every time, it made a ton of zombies appear. I'd see the center piece of those big 4 way rooms just disappear as I near them, followed by a zombie horde. One of the worst parts was getting lost and ending up back in the first room. I decided to check out the cave since I thought I checked everywhere... Now it was a hallway with a hole to a lava pool and... God it was scary. I got a friend to join, and she found the well room and library, which weren't even attached to the rest... Except I moved around, and ended up in a place I remember passing through... But it wasn't... God this place, Haunted Stronghold.
