I suppose at your school the Nuns don't hit anymore, either! Or that the priests don't sing soft melodies to teach life lessons!

He's a Texan? I thought unruly students got the electric chair there. :o

The only way I can see this being offensive is if I'm saying that janitors won't have a job without us, which I'm not.

Obviously yes, you were a total douche for suggesting that janitors have fun cleaning up after stuff.
It's a job, you aren't supposed to enjoy it.

It's a job, you aren't supposed to enjoy it.

That doesn't mean you get to insult people because they have what is assumed to be a bad job.

You can have enjoyable jobs.

But it was disrespectful and was totally uncalled for. There is a time for joking and a time for being serious.
What's the point of teaching kids to respect the lower class.
It's a disparaging art form.
Cleaning a bunch of tables for a week is considered "much"?

lol ok
White people.
That is all.

You made fun of people who make a living off that, jokingly or not.
Besides, some of the janitors are pretty cool, much nicer than the teachers.

Hell the bus drivers are nicer than the teachers.

Cleaning a bunch of tables for a week is considered "much"?

First word problems.

That doesn't mean you get to insult people because they have what is assumed to be a bad job.
It's not an insult though.

Tell me how it's insulting.

You made fun of people who make a living off that, jokingly or not.
Besides, some of the janitors are pretty cool, much nicer than the teachers.

Hell the bus drivers are nicer than the teachers.
Again, it's a joke, nothing in a joke is supposed to be taken seriously.

Yeah, pretty much. It's actually kinda sad.

It's not like he has to loving mine for gold in the yard with a shovel and a pickaxe. He's just cleaning up tables? We have job rotations at our school for students to do that anyway.

It's not an insult though.

Because you legitimately implied that by making a mess that you made someones life better.

Again, it's a joke, nothing in a joke is supposed to be taken seriously.
It was still an insult, jokingly or not.

It's a job, you aren't supposed to enjoy it.
"If you find a job you want, and the profession is something you love, then you will never work a single day in your life."

Alright, alright.  I guess it was offensive.

I still don't see how it is though.  That's all.

It's just the essence of what you said. Though part of their work is cleaning up after the students, you made it out as if their entire livelihood was based in garbage.

The fact you made that joke in the first place is also rude as it only works with a job that is generally viewed as lowbrow or demeaning. You wouldn't walk up to some screenplay writer who was collaborating with a friend and say "Why are you asking him about it? That's what they have media executives for!"
