so we just happened to get a far more intelligent and functioning brain than the hundreds of thousands of other creatures?
There were some key points in our evolution where our brains developed specific types of neurons that allowed the rest of our brain to "mature" to their current state rapidly (rapidly in terms of evolution)

However, it was all up to chance. We lucked out when we evolved a bigger brain rather then stronger jaws or more powerful legs like other creatures.
We could have followed an alternate path and modern civilization would have never existed, and your religion would have never been created.

I don't know if anyone pointed this out but agnosticism isn't a religion it is just the realization that there could not be a god. So you can be an agnostic christian and believe in god but be aware that there is a possibility the god doesn't exist.

I'm in that same group that doesn't give a stuff whether or not there is a god. I couldn't care less during this time of my life.

I'm atheist but i'm pretty open to religion, Just not seen anything that isn't stupid, Buddhism or Hinduism are the ones i would pick if i had to be religious.
Christianity has always been way too preachy for me.

Don't put words in his mouth. He didn't say that. And it didn't just happen. Do keep in mind less than 10,000 years ago humans were hunter-gatherers, not much more advanced than typical animals.

Care to prove that? This thread certainly isn't a stuffstorm.

Graph of evidence as it pertains theories:
[-------------------------]|---|{-----------------}

Key:
[-]: Not enough evidence to be sure (sure as in nearly doubtless)
|-|: Enough evidence where people should believe
{-}: So much evidence where if you don't believe you need to become more informed
Evolution happens to be in the {-} zone.

Because the complexities I listed could not happen by chance.  Even the 2nd law of thermodynamics defies Evolution.

2nd Law of Thermodynamics states that:
Order --> Randomness
Complex ---> Simple

Evolution states that:
Randomness --> Order
Simple ---> Complex
This is a flawed argument based on you neither understanding thermodynamics nor evolution. That's unfortunate but easy enough to remedy.

I highly recommend you read this article. It's very short and easy to read. It's written at a high school level, and even includes some exercises for students to do. Basically evolution works on Earth because we get more than enough energy from the sun to sustain the process.

Note that you will probably need to be at a library to read the article since it requires a subscription. You should still be able to read the abstract though. In case you can't access it, here is a link to a google search that will return pages that cite this article and maybe you can glean enough information from them to find out how exactly it works.

If you have any questions about evolution or the mathematics involved in this article I would be happy to try and answer them. The theory of evolution is actually very well grounded in evidence and I'm convinced that everyone in the world would believe in it if we took 10 minutes to better educate them about the science behind it. It's very interesting and not at all hard to follow.

And no, you don't have to stop believing in god if you don't want too. But really, not believing in evolution is like refusing to believe in gravity, and people should know better by now.

I bet you have no clue what the other laws are and what they mean.

forget you, this is a perfectly valid topic.

so we just happened to get a far more intelligent and functioning brain than the hundreds of thousands of other creatures?
so god just happened to make us smarter to rule this planet for no reason?

every time i come to a religion topic i see someone blowing off

"christians are stupd"

and I feel inclined to argue. Some i'm going to leave a two cent contribution by leaving this here and voting
and i'll be taking the nearest exit.

For all I care we could just be frog people.
