Author Topic: Why do young gamers never explore?  (Read 2645 times)

I have always searched every corner and crevice in any game I have. In fact, I remember when I was around 4 I'd be playing Perfect Dark and Goldeneye on my N64 and I'd spend hours searching for easter eggs and hidden things in the maps. Sometimes I even spammed the use button on every surface in certain maps lol.

When I was young I searched around. Just because your brother acts that way doesn't mean most young people do.

But they do. :v

Ive seen a lot that do.

I'd go as far as to say 90% of young gamers dont search.

I guess I am one of the 10% then.

So biased.

When I was younger and was playing Super Mario 64, whenever I would start the game I would ignore going straight for the door and I would explore the outside first

What qualifies as an "young gamer"?

HEY GUYS I WANNA FINISH THE GAME SO FAST IM THE FIRST GUY TO FINISH IT SINCE LAUNCH!

Yea when i was little i never really listened to what any of the people said and kinda just went off not knowing what to do after.

People like ID, Valve, Activision, and EA need to get the whole linearness out of their ass and bring back Exploration. Going down one straight path gets boring. If I want a railshooter I would go to the arcade to play Area 51. Good thing I keep this picture.

Crysis 2 does break that little line. A bit.
Arma 2 breaks it all the time :D

Arma 2 might be free roamy, but Operation Arrow quite isn't as Free roamish.

I have noticed from playing Battlefront II with my seven year old brother, he usually sticks to one spot and gets a sniper, either that or some form of camping. I however look for enemies throughout the entire map in places he would miss.
