Author Topic: Headset making weird staticky, crackling noise (Now with more popping noise!)  (Read 20976 times)

I just noticed that while playing ArmA II, that my headphones starting making a loud cracking noise. I thought that it could be the jacks for my headphone and microphone, or USB port was acting up, so I blew them out. I then plugged the headphones in, and they still made the cracking noise. I tried turning down the volume on the 'Chat' setting (this is a Turtle Beach by the way), because that usually causes static, but that didn't work. I also tried turning down the volume for ArmA just in case it was that. Nothing.

I tried checking the microphone and making sure that it worked, and it did. But what I did realize is that when I mute my microphone, the cracking doesn't happen. When I unmute it and disturb the headphones though, such as picking it up, it starts to crackle.

Could somebody help me out? These were 70 bucks, and have lasted me a good year. I don't want to have to go out and buy another pair.

EDIT: I just put them on, and everything seems to work normally, which is strange. I'm going to monitor them and see how everything turns out. It could be that a cord in my microphone module had gotten loose, because I pressed down on it a few minutes ago, and the crackling kinda stopped.

Turtle beaches usually break in about a year, they need to be replaced eventually.

Or unless you have a younger brother who touches the headphones, then they only last about 3 weeks.

Thanks for the help!

Get out. You're not contributing anything to helping me.

It seems that when I move my head in small subtle motions, like shaking my head slowly or looking down, they start to crackle.

X11's?

Yep.

They've served me well. I just hope they can last me until Christmas, when I can get some new ones, so that's why I'm trying to find a solution to this problem.

EDIT: Okay. I need somebody to give me a quick fix that WORKS that will atleast help the headset last until next Sunday.

Sounds like your mic is giving the feedback, like it should be, is encountering the crackling which either results from poor signal in the headset wiring or your mic is going bad good luck from what I see they are working right now hope they stay that way.

Excuse me I've had my x11's since March 2010 and X1's since September 2009 and guess what they both still function. I use my X11's everyday so they are not underused. You should really get some fact behind your statements. Also just if you want to know my X1's are still to this day being used by my brother.

They don't usually make this noise, so I know it's not normal. If it is poor signal in the wiring, how can I fix that? I know the microphone works, so that isn't the case either.

Also, I just was on a Skype call, and every time a small crackle happened, I cut out. I am starting to think it has something to do with the microphone.

Are you just trying to troll me? Do you have something against me? Or are you just loving stupid and want to get a rise off of me and a good laugh?

I don't, but the demons might.

The plastic on the inside are bent in some odd way, just firmly tap the speaker or get a new pair. Were you listening to anything really loudly through them?
