I am having router issues.

I just ordered this router:

http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-EtherFast-Router-4-Port-Switch/dp/B00004SB92?SubscriptionId=0E73DDYC8NA0NSVWPE82&tag

This is my current setup, I use a hub connected to a switch.

Those wires are mostly internet wires going to my PC and my Xbox.

If I replace the hub pictured with a router, and reconnect all the wires into it, will it function as a router? I want to be able to host a server in Blockland.
Or, will it just function as a bridge? Will I have to create a new connection with the router to be able to forward my ports and host?

what the stuff
your GREAT grandpa was a pc gamer? must have been the oldest thing on the internets

edit: what case do you have, pecon? is that one of the HAF series?

He lived to be old as forget and died before I was born.

I just built a cardboard box case for some hp i had laying around, im getting a 9800gt from a friend then its gonna be up and running. It has 4gb ddr2 some old phenom and a 250gb hdd. It also has a 230mm fan on top blowing air down on it. I'll get some pics of this amazing machine once I find my camera.

:D I just set up my PS3 Controller for my PC.
Now i can Play Blockland with it.

I'm also sorta having router issues
my NAT type is being bad
a while ago it was strict, but then I fixed it and it was moderate (I was aiming for open but the thing didn't work like the guy said it would for me), but the day after it was strict again

QUESTION FOR SOMEONE TO ANSWER
HELP
I bought a wireless card for this computer, I plugged it into a PCI Express slot (It didn't seem to have any place to put power, so I assumed it used power from the Motherboard).
I installed the driver software for it, and now it claims that it cannot detect the card.
Any help?

Ok, when I want to make my PC have a wired connection to the internet, do I need a router or a modem?
Uh yeah...

100 or 200gb HDD is good. Around $100, if possible.

More powerful fan push or pull on my heatsink in push/pull.
I don't think it's going to make much difference?

ordered my new computer last night, should have all the parts some time this week. thanks ethan & co
What one did you choose? :D

Since you're from that country, could you translate it for me?
I would, but I don't have a keyboard with those little squiggly letters.

im probably gonna buy this graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102948, but i only have a 460watt PSU, so i may get this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017&cm_sp=Cat_Power_Supplies-_-Spotlight-_-17-341-017.

yah
A 460W high quality PSU would be enough, however most likely isn't that high quality so yeah, good choice.

So, I posted about having all the parts for my new computer a month ago.

That's the big pile o' parts.
And now...

It's done!
I installed Windows 7 on it.
Specs:
AMD Phenom X4 3.2Ghz
Radeon 6200
8Gb RAM (Though, I havn't checked if it all works yet)

Question. What's a Radeon 6200? lol.
Also, are the wireless adapters drivers up to date? I suggest uninstalling the drivers totally, and then downloading the latest from the website and installing them.
Most modern wireless adapters don't require drivers as Windows 7 has drivers pre-installed for them. Read the literature that came with the wireless adapter as to what you do for Windows 7.
No wireless adapter will require additional power.
Did you try uninstalling the driver and re-installing it?
Maybe it's defective.

and what case is that.
Isn't that a HAF?

haALP

there are these square arrangement of holes on my case. is that where fans can be mounted?
Yeah.

I don't think that's the issue because I looked for it in the list of hardware windows detects.

Also the case is made by Antec.
Oh, it doesn't look like an Antec case. What is the model?

This is tricky.
The hub takes one connection from a router and splits it in to 4 more, effectively giving you 3 more connections for your network.
For the input, it already has to be coming from a router, as it has an Ethernet port and not an LPT1 port.
The router you linked appears to be both a splitter and a router. This is confusing. I'm not really a network person, not my specialty, but I understand the basics.
You should already be able to host as the splitter has a router as the input?

You're logged in as administrator on your router?

1: My mistake, it was a Sapphire Radeon 6800
2:
Have you tried a different slot?
This worked. Thank you :3.

Oh, okay. I went with 6800 because that was what was printed on the packaging.

Anyways, now I find out that my router is too far away to get signal from anyways.
So I guess I'll move my computer closer.
