I was thinking about building a gaming rig and was wondering about using some parts that might me more traditionally used in servers.

I know that SCSI hard drives usually have much more RPMs than the regular SATAs. Are there any hidden negatives to using SCSI hard drives for a gaming rig?

I wouldn't think so, but I think that a regular 7200rpm hard drive is ample for games. Games don't really use the hard drive speed much.

I found a hidden negative, they cost lots of money for generally less space.

They could actually help if you are using a game that supports Large textures. Although I doubt any game would ship if it needed an unusually fast harddrive to run well.

Nice find on that case, Ethan! I wish They would have had a cases like for that price when I built my first computer.

Can I make a Os part in this thread so people can pick the best operating system for them? :D
I mean more detailed then the one in the op

Can you install the OS from a USB stick / external HDD?

Ok, Windows is installed. Can I reconnect my SSD now?

Nevermind.  :cookieMonster:

This was a question to Ethan/people who know how to do stuff.

Looking for a Video Card that's Under 300 Dollars and i want the best one possible for the budget

Can you install the OS from a USB stick / external HDD?
Yes

These drivers be installin'

Uh
The 2500k is far superior to any Phenom.
Weren't the video cards on both your build and my build both 6950s?
Also, the build is better balanced, more money is spent on things that are more important.

Hm, I see. But the video card I selected has 2GB of DDR3 :/

Do you run a resolution higher than 1920x1200?
If you don't, then theres no need for more than 1GB of VRAM.

Not sure what I'd put there. Linux/Ubuntu if you can't afford Windows, IMO.

Yeah, I'm actually thinking of using it on my next build if I can't afford something a little bigger for the video cards.
I made the mistake this time of buying looks and coolness over functionality, airflow and size.

How big is your case?
What slots does your motherboard have?
What wattage/model is your power supply?
What OS are you running?
What is your CPU?

Basically for a computer I just want it to have really fast multitasking, and fast render times as well as be able to play games such as Battlefield 3 on Ultra to Max settings on a 1920x1080 screen. Also enough RAM so I could run a few servers for my friends. And a lovey looking case, that's the only reason why I picked the Corsair Graphite. That is all I want XD
