Speedfan still not working, RealTemp worked though.

Is there anything I need to be concerned about? Judging by touch I can say that it's gotten much hotter before, to the point where it's painful to touch it.

That temperature is fine for most CPUs, and considering it is running in a laptop, it is perfectly OK.

One more quick question, is it normal for it to shoot up to 85 when starting Blockland? I has only gotten to the main menu and started a server when I noticed. I was gonna play games and keep checking on it to get an idea of how hot it gets when playing. It went from 66 to 85 in, about less than 20 seconds. kinda odd

Not surprising.  You may want to invest in a cooling pad, though.  I didn't think most laptop model i7s went higher than 2.4 GHz though, since I think most of them are typically 1.6/1.7 GHz and then turbo if they need to up to around 2.4 GHz.

I've got one right now, I have another and I'm not sure of how well one preforms over the other, but I'd say they're pretty much the same.

Also, if you need me to take any measurements for your own reference, I would be ever glad to do so.
Well.
1. Windows 7 writes stuff to the registry. This deems a portable version of Windows 7 nearly impossible. There is a version, however, it's not that compatible, and is made by third party people so Microsoft doesn't really like you for doing it.

2. Dang. Oh well, still can get reasonable CPUs with that. I'd like to not have to upgrade mobo, but would you be willing to if you had to? Would maybe involve getting another Windows key. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

3. Yeah, easy. It would be incorporated into the update budget anyway BTW.

Test it at full load in the most resource taxing game you have.

Built my first custom computer in 2010 (I think). Built on an i7 920, dual 5870s, but the motherboard broke and all I have now is an i3. :(

Played Crysis for a few minutes before my computer froze, max temperature was 190f. I can't help but think that this isn't the best program, 190 seems WAY too high.

EDIT: Its having trouble starting, it starts then dies again. It takes a few tries for it to begin the startup process. I'm gonna leave it off for a bit.

EDIT2: I started it, and its a little warmer than room temperature and it reads as 140f, so I'd take about 60f from any of the readings.

As long as I don't end up spending excessive amounts of money on something I wouldn't necessarily need, I would be fine with switching out parts and whatnot.

I'm only worried about fragility of parts, because I don't have the softest touch when it comes to assembling pieces. So, like I said, maximum budget I can probably get is $700, but most likely it'll be around $500.

A decent gaming computer can be made from scratch with about 500. 600 is even  better, and so is 700.

190f (87c) isn't too bad. It should be able to handle that.

So, after having to use an awful Athlon II X2 for months, I finally got my Phenom II X4 980 3.7GHz
Popped it in, bumped up the multiplier to 4GHz and bumped up the voltage.

My sister needs an external hard drive as a back up storage device what can you recommend?

Budget?

Budget?

Pretty much whatever. A 500GB to a 1TB would do it for space though
