try to get a modular power supply if you can. less hassle.
yeah that was a reason i wanted a switch. but i don't really know how to tell good quality from bad when picking a psu besides watts and being modular. i suppose i'll look for 600w, modular, with quality reviews. but modular is not be a necessity.also how do you guys keep yourselves grounded when building?

while i haven't experienced this, i've heard static may not necessarily fry a component but cause hardware failure. it's hard to detect whether a failure was made by static though.
Recently, a really loud hissing sound is coming from my computer, could it have something to do with the new PSU I put into it?
I am running a Phenom-type laptop cpu, I've overclocked and slightly undervolted so it run less hot. However it still idles at a very warm temperature (64 degrees).I'm very new to overclocking, anybody got any tips?
