Author Topic: The Computer Megathread  (Read 486239 times)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/v36U I need feedback again.

I like my Apple keyboard, and I don't feel like switching into a 1337 pr0 k3yb0ard until a key sensor stops detecting or when something else on it dies.
I don't need a Blu-Ray burner at this point.
I won't give up the GTX680 and downgrade to the GTX670, though!
Why the two separate hard drives? I got 1TB for like $80.

Okay, I'm almost settled on my plan of action, I just need to know one thing.

If I use an upgrade edition for Windows 8 on my OEM copy of Win7 will I then be able to activate said Win8 on a different computer in the future, say in the event of me needing to re-install Windows due to a harddrive failure? Because, needless to say, I will never be able to access that OEM copy of Win7 ever again as it's a Dell OEM and their machines are shipped with backup partitions on the harddrive which allow you to reinstall Windows but they do not come with installation DVD's for Windows.

This is an important question and I need an answer, without one the only thing I can do is drop £120 on a retail copy of Win7 blindly and hope that it was the smartest move

Still looking for help

I now have everything running, turns out I just forgot to plug this other power cord into the motherboard.

In fact I am posting this on the new comp. :D

Very nice :D

Like with Windows 7, you need to get MAK (Multiple Activation Keys) if you want to register Windows on multiple computers.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x00000050 (0xffffea8008d96828, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff8800537799d, 0x0000000000000007). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: .

Unable to produce a minidump file from the full dump file.

Audit events have been dropped by the transport.  0

I have a dump file, not sure how to open. this is all from the event viewer, in the BSoD came up a "Page fault in non paged area"
I was playing gmod for 1 1/2 hours before this happened. any suggestions?

Here's a tiny breakdown for you.
Invalid system memory frame (in this case, 0xffffea8008d96828) was referenced.
It was a read operation, stated by 0x0000000000000000.
0xfffff8800537799d was the memory frame that referenced the memory frame in parameter 1.
The fourth parameter is reserved. This should typically be zero. It doesn't mean anything anyways.

Bug check 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware. It's usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM. If it persists, Update any and all drivers should they be out-of-date. Run Windows Update. Do a Memory Test. Run Chkdsk /f /r. Disable any recently added services, or uninstall any recently installed programs. Disable or update your Anti-Virus. Remove any recently added hardware it to see if the error recurs. If existing hardware has failed, remove or replace the faulty component.

Then you guys obviously haven't seen a MurderBox. Prepare your eyes for some hardware pr0n.

-research-

That white panel on the bottom glows a white light, kind of like a softbox light in a photography studio.

I came

am I the only one that can't see those images?
I can't because Malwarebytes has MurderBox on it's IP blacklist. I'm not interested in seeing them enough to tell Malwarebytes to ignore it.

oh, I have Malwarebytes too.

Like with Windows 7, you need to get MAK (Multiple Activation Keys) if you want to register Windows on multiple computers.

So there is absolutely no way to re-install it in the event of a harddrive failure without buying another Windows 8 OEM and upgrade copy?

maybe this'll change your mind

Even the RAM is liquid cooled!
