Again, im in 7th grade

All I heard was crying about how middle school life is so tough.

I had lots of giant homework assignments, including 6 page front-and-back worksheets.

You were likely given two weeks detention because you had been causing trouble prior to that.  There are incredibly few teachers who would really give two weeks + a Saturday just because you were seen talking to someone else unless it's already been a big problem and you've been warned.  You're kids, not convicts.  They're not going to throw down the worst punishment they can think of in 3 seconds just for these things.
