I think the "two states" idea is better for blockland.  Not like you can turn a knob on a piece of molded plastic.

The "realism" argument doesn't apply in a game where the characters limbs are floating in the air. Besides, the lack of animation would appear very rough and jittery. It doesn't fit Blocklands relatively detailed style.

Don't you mean less process intensive? Because neither cause lag, at least noticeably.

The issue is, it's a hell of a lot easy to export a DTS model than make a BLB.

I would love it if vehicles, weapons, and stuff like that was made using the BLB system, allowing you to add prints to them, or build on them, and other stuff like that, and of course, the BLB system being set up to be a little more user-friendly

You can't event the chest like you could with a JVS brick. The chest is more of a fun item.

This "Real" doors idea sounds like a good idea to me.
