Well, someone brought this up recently and the OccupyOakland website claims that at 5:00 in the morning peaceful protesters got attacked by a large group of police officers in riot gear.

detailed reply: regardless of how you feel about what the protestors are arguing for, we have a right to peacefully protest. it's in the first amendment. this is a bad thing no matter what they were protesting for because they were doing it peacefully, and meeting that with arrest is a Bad Thing™
