Acne medication generally comes in lotions and face washes. You rub it on your face, you rinse it, you pat dry. Or for some you can leave it on overnight. The strength varies on the active ingredient and how much in percentage is in the lotion. Some can cause bleaching of cloth items, some won't. Read the labels.
The main goal of the kind of acne medicine that I just described is to basically dry your skin in order to remove any oil that does clog up your pores and cause acne.
You can also take antibiotics but those are really only needed for and probably given to people who have serious cases.
