This is what pains me, Lennie (Or a similar character or person) - not knowing, not understanding, in his mental state. It makes me so sad that he can't be comforted, nor can he truly understand, especially in the time they are in. With all of the constant struggle for sustenance of life and whatnot.

I just don't understand Carlson's last line, at the very end.

I read it in 8th grade and had to again in freshman year.

Great book :(
