Still makes you look stupid regardless.
I sense a stark irony here.
In your world,
intelligence is defined by the ability to stick to the most arbitrary rules of language regardless of the necessity. What you fail to realize, however, is that shorthand words and inversion of grammatical syntax is a much more commendable display of intellect, provided however, that the same message is conveyed successfully to all parties. Now you can pose an argument here, seeing as how you're overtly against any simplification in English, so I'd like to quote Albert Einstein:
"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction."And C. W. Ceram:
"Genius is the ability to reduce the complicated to the simple."The ability to simplify something as complex as language is a natural result of human intelligence. In all areas of study we simplify, record, and recall things using all sorts of mnemonic devices, and shorthand words being such for colloquial exchanges.
