I've gone through like 8 pairs of 'cheap sony headphones' most of the time because they just fall apart. Sound quality is nice but they aren't durable whatsoever.

clean out your ears and that wouldn't happen

or as a better solution, get something that isn't earbuds
earbuds suck amazingly high amounts of richard
they are horrible in terms of sound without exception
they are uncomfortable 99% of the time, and the other 1% of the time they look dumb as forget

I love earbuds. I have a $10 pair that I use with my iPod all the time. I clean them out every now and then, and they sound great, especially with a Bass Boost EQ. I've had them for close to a year now, if not more. They look great, and they're comfortable. Granted, I might not be thinking of the same earbuds as you- I'm talking about the ones you actually put in your ear and they have changeable ear things so that you can change it to fit your ear.
I forgot the name, but they had a radiation symbol thing on the back. I got them at Wal-Mart, too.

Sony sucks in terms of everything except for the PSX series, excluding the PSP
I'm not sure if they do it anymore, but not long ago, Sony computers didn't have SD card slots, or really much more than USB connectors, because they try to make their products require their stupid Sony memory cards
rather than using what is pretty much the current universal standard
the Playstation 1/2/3 is literally the only time I've been pleased with Sony before
I especially hate VAIO computers
