Cry of Fear is a horror mod for HL1 that's been in development for the last couple years. Before you start thinking about Black Mesa Source, these guys are actually making progress and are pretty public about it. It's made by the same guy who made Afraid of Monsters and this time he's got more people helping him. The biggest deal about this mod is that it's a complete overhaul of Half Life 1 in terms of graphics, gameplay, cutscenes, presentation, atmosphere, enemies etc.

This image seems to be taken with the game's optional film grain setting.

Probably, not very easy to do in a HL1 mod but at least give the combat a rest every once and a while, so the player has to solve puzzles and things.

The only horror games I like are ones that put alot of adrenaline into me. a chase isn't intense if you can end it with 3 mouse clicks.

I have a feeling it'll take a bit more than "3 mouse clicks" on some things. Afraid of Monsters had plenty of puzzle solving and Cry of Fear has even more of it. It's not just centred around shooting stuff but it is a pretty big part of it anyway. Count how many things they use from Hl1 in here

They've just released the co-op video for 2500 likes. Yes, this mod has built in co-op. I'd advise against seeing it to avoid spoiling any of the awesome stuff in there. I saw the first like 2 or 3 minutes and I regret doing it.

So, is it actually scary? Like jump scares that make watching two guys playing co-op hilarious?
