From the perspective of a ~social butterfly~ this series is painful to for me to watch because it's just a painful reminder to me of how stuffty peoples' lives can be. I do agree with the article that it's forgeted up to laugh at someone's social disorder's impact upon their life, but I also agree with Sir Clark above me that most people are likely laughing with her in sympathy. The article seems to just be assuming the worst of people, which is frankly a really dumb thing to do.

But most of the spectrum of the anime is filled with depressed characters who question their existence or try to be accepted. Or I am just stuck in the 90's and early 2000's shonans.

no, they still tend to be, and it's incredibly stuffty and annoying

What I find annoying is the massive influx of Loli moestuff.

agreed
i don't see why people are so against the idea of just a normal slice of life with actually normal people
servant x service almost pulls that off but since it's by the same guy as working!! it has basically the same cast

What I find annoying is the massive influx of Loli moestuff.
because cute stuff sells

eg why watamote looks more happy than its manga counterpart

We can think the anime where a little kid's mom is eaten by a huge, terrifying monster, with any character that isn't a main or supporting character dying in less than a single episode to be one of the best animes ever.

But an anime about a girl with social anxiety is just demented, right?

kotaku lost all credibility awhile ago imo

implying they had credibility in the first place

I hope one day Sunrise makes a show similar to Mellowlink or something in the Votoms Universe. The concept was pretty cool, but most of the episode were repetitive.

Sunrise is too busy making space national socialist vampire Geass bullstuff.

Attack on Titan's pretty mediocre too, though it's really only funny because of how incredibly narmy it is. It's generally intended to be serious.

all we've learned is that cowboy bebop is forever god-tier and if you disagree you can go forget yourself sideways because you have no taste

Speaking of moestuffs, Kiniro Mosaic's entire comedic value lies in all the janky sounding English. Definitely a good watch if you feel like enjoying some mildly tribal laughs.
