I've been meaning to watch that, haven't gotten around to it

I find the first episodes of a show to not be a good enough dealbreaker on whether to watch them or not.

I couldn't get through like 5 minutes of Gurren Lagann my first time through.

if you watch the first episode of champloo and hate it, drop the show, because that first episode is pitch perfect

Yeah, I think they both need DirectX. G-Senjou no Maou is older, though, so you might want to try that first.

Meant to finish the Shuffle anime since I was like a quarter of the way through, but I heard they forgeted up Kaede's character by turning her into a yandere (which is COMPLETELY LEFT FIELD) so I kinda lost interest. I'll finish it eventually.

Grisaia no Kajitsu definitely isn't going to work. Don't even need to try it. There's a DirectX folder in the install files. :V

Downloading G-Senjou no Maou now, don't see anything DirectX related in the folder.

word of warning, every route except Uusami's is kinda meh.

I think the recommended route order (because of the way the story is structured) is

Tsubaki -> Kanon -> Mizuha -> Usami
