SAO only had one redeeming feature: It's first episode. It created a solid setup for a great story. But I guess you could hardly call it a redeeming feature since it only went downhill from there.
SAO II's only advantage is that it included a legitimately dark and tragic past for two characters, and the creators could have done a lot more to build on this development, but the story created as bookends around it and shelves above and below spoke volumes about how empty the plot really was.
It's only defense was that it had good elements that could have held potential, but too bad that they forgeted everything else up, and thus the advantages become virtually worthless.
Just continuing Jojo. Really happy that it's continuing.
