I came across some people who really loved Attack on Titan but the show seems to be quite polarizing to me. A lot of people hate it as well? I read the synopsis but isn't terribly interesting to me, any reason I should watch it?
i only watched the first 4 episodes, and it really wasn't anything special. it's really only extremely overrated as an average action series, pretty much a zombie apocalypse setting with a couple of good ideas which people praise the forget out of way too hard.
it being entry-level means that most of the people praising it so hard are teenagers who don't have a good sense of decent storytelling/writing (i mean they're watching anime, not much of that these years). although it might not be half bad, i wouldn't pick something like AoT to be in this position, rather something like Serial Experiments Lain. something that takes a huge risk to tell a story that nobody in the anime industry would even think of telling (due to it not being some stuffty generic harem LN, SoL moestuff, awful fantasy, etc.).
