Author Topic: Hawf draws stuff  (Read 132742 times)

Not to mention the fact that he decided to create a thread as opposed to post in the drawings megathread topic.

I enjoy your style, Tommy.  However, for a lot of these, I'd like to see your references -- there's a few that were obviously not done through sheer imagination.

Constructive criticism (read at your own risk, Tommy):
In reference to some proportioning, I see you having an issue with perspective.  For example, the ink painted soldier has some very obvious issues when it comes to his stance.  The hips seem to be bending at the torso, and not below it.  To compensate, I assume you made them a bit too long.  Throughout the rest of your illustrations, you seem to completely ignore any form of perspective that may endanger the overall piece.  The style of outline and overall composition (sloppy, comprised of cube-like lines) is appealing in a unique format, but you haven't posted many works that eliminate this style, informing me that you simply haven't the ability to finalize works appropriately.

Either way, your light and shadow comprehention is absolutely wonderful.  Keep it up, dude!

I've always had trouble with perspective, so I've been looking into various anatomy books in my art class on working with proportions.
as for the blocky outline on some of my pieces, I usually try to use the same brush all the way through a painting but I really need to break the habit as it'll take away from the piece itself (thanks for pointing this bit out, It's a habit I'll need to break)

as for inspiration and reference I take a lot from some of my favourite artists

this is just a small portion of my favourite artists
but all in all

This is why I wanted to do a little practicing with you via iScribble.  You don't have too many issues, and seeing how it can be done in several different ways may help.

I don't like ponies, not at all really, but you have some kickass drawings\models here.

You're damn right I have a loving point. I don't care what anyone thinks of my art. I ESSPECIALLY will not take any stuff from the Blockland community of all things. Frankly this whole place has been dead to me since 2009, I'm just making another outlet for my art.

Nothing more, nothing less
I wonder why you share your art with a bunch of dead brains anyways.
Infant creativity is merely a costume for this community. I truly enjoy your art.
