I can now buy and drink alcohol legally, woo!
Feel free to gift me anything.

Another misguided adult-check.

Didn't have my first drink til I turned 24. Probably have a drink once every 2 weeks to 6 months. Still can't smoke. I think I have it down pat.

Thanks. :D

I don't drink that much really. I've been drunk like 5-7 times. I'm not a very outgoing person.
Can't stand smoking one bit, out of curiosity I've tried to smoke a cigarette, but it makes me choke, makes my mouth try, smells horrible. No idea how people get addicted to that stuff.

Peer pressure mostly. After that, it just becomes habit.

Well it's one tough habit to pick up, because everything about cigarette yells you to not smoke it.

Not unless you count in the Nicotine which makes the whole thing a chemical dependency issue.

I still think addictions are more mind related than body related. If you have a weak mind, you will get addicted to anything. Just what I've noticed.

It really depends. If a body becomes used to a certain chemical, there can be serious physical problems associated with the absence of. With cigarettes, it's been shown that there are many chemicals in them that can be considered habit-forming or even addictive.

People who use the "weak mind" theory are probably those who are distributing it. My mother was a stubborn strong willed lady but she tried for over 20 years to try and quit smoking, never able to break the habit. She died a smoker despite her efforts and all the support and help from family and friends.

I can agree that for some people it can be easy to quit. My grandpa couldn't afford cigs one day and ended up never buying another pack. Just never got to it. Everyone just has a different brain chemistry and it affects people differently. That's all I can really definitively say about it.
