Author Topic: Is this a good deal for a custom-built computer?  (Read 1338 times)

Why did you quote the SPECIFIC part on what it could play then...?

Because the rest of the OP is in quote tags and gets purged when you quote it.

Okay, well that explains it, but seriously Purple you can't expect people to know you have a small hard drive and know that's what you were talking about :/

PurpleMetro is completly stupid if he thinks hd space has that much impact on performance.

The cpu is good, you could do with a better gpu though if you are building.
Also what brand is the psu?
forget idk
this guy didn't iterate on psu, also how would i upgrade gpu?
The amount of hard drive space does nothing to do with performance of a game. Just as long as it has the required space to run.
yeah my steam folder won't be that big
some of my steam games will be played once, then uninstalled
You have no clue what you are talking about.

Anyways...

hard drive is sufficient, could be much higher but it is not needed. The graphics card is awful though.

Budget?

My budget is at the highest under 899. Considering this computer is 600, I'm not surprised that the graphics card is bad.

It's weird, I said that I play steam games a lot, and I asked him if this computer will be sufficient for a while, and he said yes, but by some of these replies it's the opposite. :/
possibly on low settings

Could you splash out money at all for a better gpu?
read above reply
No. The GPU is not sufficient enough.
I wish to have more detail on the PSU, the motherboard, and the CPU.
will get that for ya

Have you already ordered it?

If you didn't, then you could get MUCH better with your budget, even with 600. Seriously.

That graphics card is back from 2007 - 2008, and really outdated, you could get medium on Crysis at most:

If you want modern graphics card, that could probably max out most games, (even Crysis 2 with DX11 patch)

Look at the build lists from around 600 to 800, those are MUCH better than yours.

Also, the guy who said it was good (assuming he works at the company) is probably doing that so you buy it.

Uh, yeah. It's like the best thing you can do.

idk last time i asked you guys about this, it got like 5 replies, but they were all positive
anyway i didnt order it, i don't need crysis gfx at all, i just want it to be able to play most games without looking like poopoo diarrhea hamburger for a few years
i don't think that will require crysis graphics, because if every game was like crysis then people wouldn't buy it on steam, since they wouldn't be able to run it very well..
Uh, yeah. It's like the bet thing you can do.
above says otherwise

email the guy for more info if you can

haha good luck with that.
don't be a prick about it, pal.  :panda:
jeez it's not like i play many modern games anyway
my most modern game is portal 2, and it runs fine imo on a MACBOOK THAT IS OWNED BY MY MOTHER

anyway the $800 turns out to be $932 on newegg, but i might be able to stretch idk
would you recommend any specific sets

Not sure. Looks decent.

update: i am checking out the presets on the computer megathread, the $600 set is $732. not a big deal at all, but i want to know if it's worth the price or what
tbh i think the best way would be just to teach me about what parts are good, bad, etc. it can't be that hard
i mean it seems to just be brands and numbers :/

Quote
If there any changes to be made in the parts please tell me.

GPU bottlenecks CPU and RAM by a lot... for gaming

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130661 or something similar in performance. Make sure there is enough room in your case to fit the video card.
You should get a 600wat+ power supply, a 530wat power supply might not cut it.
