Author Topic: Let's Derp  (Read 2592 times)

From Mr. Wallet, host of that Let's Play League of Legends thing earlier this year. I want to present something less srs bsns pro-gamery than that, and something a little more light-hearted. Something that marvels at the flexibility of entertainment simulations and finds joy in the unexpected ways games can be played.

Something called Let's Derp.

The goal of Let's Derp is to try and press game mechanics to their limit and play games in ways they weren't quite intended to be played. It will hopefully be sometimes an example of how a creative person can get more fun out of a single game, and other times a playful jab at how games rely a lot on certain expectations, and don't always hold together so well when players don't meet them.

Unlike the previous show, there will be no schedule. If you want to know when I'm streaming, you should follow my twitter or you can probably do some kind of subscribe thing on the show's page.

The fun of this kind of endeavor multiplies if there's more audience interaction with the chat... So point your buddies to the thread if you're so inclined. If oyu happen to be one of my buddies and you're reading this, I also need skype partners, so hit me up.

I was thinking I might start tonight in a couple hours, but whatevs.

It doesn't really seem to be happening but it's monday night so I'm not surprised. We'll try tomorrow.

That skype call was fun though.

do kerbal space program

>Flatout 2
>When the race starts, go the opposite direction
>attempt to eliminate all other cars instead of winning
>???
>Profit!
This is so damn fun, try it.

seems fun, although computer is low on memory and running skype may crash me.

We did it for 3 hours and it was a huge success. Captain McTavishasaur is a fire type that can teleport, in the event of an emergency the smartest airport security will fake an epileptic seizure to avoid being shot, favela informants have psychic cloaking devices to escape pursuers, and shooting people in the leg is sometimes lethal, sometimes non-lethal... but when it's lethal, feel free to blow them and your squadmates up with a grenade for mission success.

gonna try to do it tomorrow between the same time and an hour later, invite your friends :3 It's a lot better with viewers because I do read the chat.  :cookieMonster:

Within an hour (or two) all of the edited footage should be available on the show's page (livestream.com/letsderp)... I just need to finish uploading part 5. As far as editing, I cut out the more boring parts, or occasionally sequenced things to be funnier, nothing big. If you don't care to watch them all, I recommend parts 2 and 5.
