Author Topic: Obama Leaves God Out of Thanksgiving Address  (Read 6316 times)

I don't know who Planr is but he made a good point and Tony just completely ignores it to rant about not seeing any Native Americans.

Man it even says it in the first paragraph. But today it's more celebrated as a feasting holiday than the original intentions it had back then, so most people overlook it's religious origins.

Sure you guys may not agree with it, but that doesn't change its meaning.

this hardly seems like something that should end up as a news st

Good job taking what I said completely out of context for something that doesn't even apply to what I meant at all.

When I said 'kept them in one piece', I wasn't referring to land ownership or any of that stuff, I was referring to their colony surviving.

Okay, god helped the pilgrims. The pilgrims only held onto a piece of land because the Native Americans allowed them to live. If they were a feral tribe those pilgrims would be long gone and we may not even own america today. Backstabbing to get more land is not god's work.

You shouldn't believe everything you read on a wikipedia article, anyone can edit them.

It goes both ways because we still own one piece. Also somehow we have Alaska and that is canadian territory.

Oh christ, read the comments on that article

God wasn't responsible for what the pilgrims did, lol

Actually, that article is locked and protected, so not everyone can edit it

But the "all knowing being of the universe" saw it coming and did nothing to stop it.

The pilgrims held onto the land because they had the support from the native americans, god did nothing. The native americans taught them to plant corn and catch fish, god did not teach them either of those things.

But the "all knowing being of the universe" saw it coming and did nothing to stop it.

I don't know why you people go on this endless crusade to try to make us think god isn't real. It's like when a very small amount of us try to convert you, nothing happens but friction and conflict. Religious opinions are set in stone unless you have an extremely open mind, but that requires an extremely large amount of maturity.

are they intentionally misspelling obama or are they just that loving handicapped

Do you have any proof that god ever did anything? There is no proof or physical evidence and the only people that claim they've seen god are loving psychos.

I find this brilliant. It makes what he said more "compatible" with people of difference race, religion, and belief.

Though, sometimes America does have its random spouts of being really pro-religion (mostly older people and crazy middle-aged hicks from smaller towns) to the point its weird, so no wonder why the media jumps on it and portrays it negatively. Glad atheism is on the rise though. Huehue.
