Had he said something about god though there would be no topic and we wouldnt be arguing - Its not like he said there wasnt a god, or said there was, he just left it absent. If people are getting angry over that then too bad for them, they need to realize the world isnt supposed to conform to their ideals

Tell that to the people who decided to be burned at the stake rather than recant protestantism during the reign of Bloody Mary, to the people who travel to Hati to spread the Gospel, to the persecuted church in China and the Middle East. Read Foxe's Book of Martyrs before calling religion "unimportant" Take the Islamic faith: people are willing to strap bombs to their chests because their "unimportant religion".

On an individual scale, it could be important to people.
However, on a larger scale, society could still function without religion.
I'm not saying it should be completely wiped out, but you are wrong in saying it is completely important.

Religion did act as a way to stop some of the gullible people of yesterday killing and stuff.
It was only the training wheels of our civilization, it helped us, but we won't be able to to go far by keeping them on.
