are there any dj systems that can connect up SATA hard drives? because you could totally eliminate,the laptop from sets then.

No, but all modern players connect with USB drives, which is how I eliminate the laptop from my set. I just have a 64GB flashdrive filled with songs sorted by genre and artist.

You need to plug one in anyway to record your mix, so it seems pointless to me to not also get the music off of it.

I think I'd actually prefer the laptop just for the additional visual interface to work with. Even though I probably will rarely touch itd be nice to have a nice large display to help me with things

You don't really ever touch it. When you do it's just to drag a track onto your mixer.

On an irrelevant note, does anyone else absolutely adore vocoded vocals? Oh my god, they sound so amazing.

I am so super stoked for this Seven Lions remix contest because there are some loving amazing remixes coming out of it, like this one.

Also a very nice new one from my buddy Popeska featuring vocals from the lovely Anna Yvette: Popeska - As the World Falls Down (feat. Anna Yvette)

Has a free download, and he also put the vocals in the description for free so there's no way I'm not doing a remix of this.
