Do not use Shaper to mess with DTS files. As you said, it's abandoned. There's no telling what it can forget up, which as you said it does. It's not viable for serious use.

Even though it simply does not export the animations at all, the model is perfectly intact. And yes, using it seriously would be a stupid, stupid idea so I'm just going to take what I've got, and work from there. Keep in mind that that is the only option to mess with pre-existing DTS files anyway.
Exporting isn't the only problem. Try playing an imported animation.Also there are other ways to import a dts file. It's been done.
If you have to fix anything, it isn't good. You're messing with the default player, you'd be inconsistent if you had to fix your work.
Sometimes, you have to fall back on a work-around.
