Do not use Shaper to mess with DTS files. As you said, it's abandoned. There's no telling what it can forget up, which as you said it does. It's not viable for serious use.

Even though it simply does not export the animations at all, the model is perfectly intact. And yes, using it seriously would be a stupid, stupid idea so I'm just going to take what I've got, and work from there. Keep in mind that that is the only option to mess with pre-existing DTS files anyway.

Exporting isn't the only problem. Try playing an imported animation.

Also there are other ways to import a dts file. It's been done.

I can play and modify animations just fine in Shaper... I just need to get bones working.

If you know any better ways to get a .dts file out to MilkShape or blender, please share them... because I think I'm close to getting everything right.

If you have to fix anything, it isn't good. You're messing with the default player, you'd be inconsistent if you had to fix your work.

Sometimes, you have to fall back on a work-around.

Have you tried this before?

Edit: All I'm saying is that you seem to be sandbagging this experiment... but really, if there is a better way than through Shaper, then please do tell, because Shaper sucks.

Tons of times back when the idea of trying Shaper with Blockland was new.

Any success?

The fact the import has to be fixed is indication enough it's not a good solution. I honestly don't even remember, I gave up on Shaper a long time ago.

The import was never the problem, it was getting the animations into MilkShape.

Update: I got the animations to export to milkshape!

I am now going to make my own gun recoil animations... thanks for the script, Chrono.

tell me if it works.

i figured out something else. using the new 97.3 beta exporter for blender, bones are now based facing up instead of left which is a new orientation issue for exporting. this will be a pain to fix.
