Author Topic: Is it just me, or is weaponry overly cheap?  (Read 1259 times)

If you don't believe me, go on Ebay and type in "Katana". Nice ones are about 150$, and the cheap replicas are about 25$. Doesn't that seem a bit cheap for a folded steel blade? Any old psycho with a credit card can order one up and be on his merry way. I mean, I love the fact that there's a sword in the mail with my name on it, but still. I always thought swords and such were like, $1,000?

Swords are harder to use than you think lol

Handguns are only $150 - $200

Swords are also never used except by cigarettes.

Well yeah, swords are hard to use, but if somebodies' running down the street, waving a sharp bit of metal around I'm not going to feel too safe. I mean, It's more dangerous than a knife.

My sister's replica sword was $50, the functional version was $100 :o

Don't be fooled. Most "Replicas" don't pass any quality tests and would probably break if used in a real combat situation.

Waving a katana around is only going to hurt yourself, not anyone else.

only fools use swords. its the year 2011 now.

if its not hanging on the wall looking pretty, you are a friend.

Knives are easier to control, and usually can be sharper/have more force put behind the blade.

Real combat situations would involve buying a time machine and taking it to a time where people won't laugh at you for having a sword.

So like, a billion dollars for the whole kit.

You say that now, but if there's a dude with a sword anywhere near you it becomes a game of 'aaaa-that-man-has-a-sharp-sword-stay-away-from-me'.

pretty much this

I would love to collect old arms and armor and have some sort of room dedicated to housing them, if I had the money. But I would never think to use them.
Swords aren't more dangerous than a knife in this day and age. A knife can be easily concealed, while a sword is obvious and easy to prepare for.

You don't need to be well trained with a sword to kill someone with it.
Just swing it at their neck.
