i typically always catch the other two elements of what i didn't choose (in this case, water/fire), and afterward just catch what looks interesting or cute and isn't a normal-type (and can use the good HMs).
i'm no expert at this game, so i don't really know any good strategies or ways to play it lol

current team (guessing the levels):
Servine (33), Zoroark (32) Lucario (30) Azumarill (31), Arcanine (32), Genesect (31)

i just got out of the electric cave place, the fly-type gym is near but i know i need to level these guys up badly. i find it rather hard to train six at once. i always have favoritism tendencies in this game, always trying to keep my starter on top of the "pack"

i wish i had my dragonair and luxray lol

I ditched my pignite as soon as I found growlithe :X

didn't need two pokemon vulnerable to psychic and flying attacks

if next gen's fire-type starter is half fighting I'm going to absolutely lose it

I didn't even catch one until I was done with the main game.

just finished Area 8 of the white tree hollow, I think if I go any further down at this point I'm going to get destroyed

I've been lucky enough to get good clues about the gate trainer/have the gate trainer and the gate on the starting floor for the last three areas but I can't keep getting lucky forever

i just beat the flying-gym
got a lucky egg beforehand, yay

i also wanted some electric type, so at first i was going for an emolga but then got an eevee instead and evolved it into a jolteon
now i'm at some fire-mountain with an apparent dragon-type gym leader. oh goody
