uh
not to burst your bubble but the vast population of everyone town has a red gyarados

d'oh. And by the way red gyarados is about as gratifying as catching your first pokemon in the first patch of grass.

If anyone wants to swap their Pinsirite for my Heracronite that'd be cool

I remember in platinum catching a shiny magikarp while looking for the whore that is feebas...

i'm wondering if anyone's up for a free for all in x/y
we need 2 more people

This will be the first shiny I'll have every legitimately owned, 1, give me a break and 2, gyarados can mega evolve and I never actually see any gyarados online.

I claim king of page 500

Might try chainfishing magikarp today.

Caught a shiny female magikarp, named it leviathan and evolved it to a gyarados :D

Aside from the looker quest-thing, is there even much else to do in X & Y postgame?

Also not to sound stupid, but how would I go about checking IVs/EVs of pokemon?

There's stuff you can do after you beat the game.
Hotel Richissime - About as fun as indentured servitude.
Le Wow - Easy.

What are the levels in Le Wow? I might do some training on my lower levelled pokemon.

Gonna trade my Moltres for Articuno on GTS and eventually trade that for Zapdos.

I hope that with that, my legendary hunt can start.

EDIT: It's been traded, got a german Articuno. Now to trade it for Zapdos.

EDIT2: Got Zapdos. What now.

use an online calculator for ivs, reset evs using an ev bag to make the process easier. I want to check the ivs of my shiny gyarados so i know whether its compeitive.

okay listen closely.

To check EVs: go to your super training application on the bottom screen and select the pokemon of choice to train. The right side shows its current progress with a green bad. The graph shows in yellow what the current EV spread of the pokemon you have are. Ones that aren't EV trained will have almost no yellow. Ones that are fully trained will have yellow and a fully green bar to the right.

To check IVs: go to Kiloude City and enter the pokemon center. There will be a guy with purple hair on the left side of the counter. He will ask you to see the intriguing potential of your pokemon. Choose the pokemon you want him to judge.

Quotes taken from Bulbapedia Wiki Page: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Stats_judge

Quote
"Incidentally, I would say its greatest potential lies in <best stat>"
(If the Pokemon has two or more equally good best stats, then he will add one of the following lines:)
"But its Attack stat is good, too."
"Hmm. And its Defense stat is good, too."
"Although its Sp. Atk stat is equally good."
"Its Sp. Def stat seems just as good, though."
"And, well, its Speed stat is good, too."
To describe the value of the Pokémon's highest IV(s), he will use one of the following lines:
IV range of 0-15: "It has rather decent stats, I'd say. That's how I judge it."
IV range of 16-25: "It's definitely got some good stats. That's how I judge it."
IV range 26-30: "This Pokemon has some fantastic stats. That's how I judge it."
IV of 31: "Stats like those... They simply can't be beat! That's how I judge it."
