With the job market lackluster at best now a days it can be difficult to find a job.

How many of you Blocklanders work your ass off for a tiny paycheck like me?!
:P

I work at a grocery store named Kroger. Been employed there for 3 months. Started off as a cashier/bagger! I was promoted two weeks ago to produce! :D

So what's your deal? Looking for work? Don't want it? Have it?

Pack shelves at local shops mostly, so fun./sarcasm

Grocery department huh? Look at it like this dude, it's alot better than dealing with needy, stupid customers all day like I had to lol

I'm a landscaper. It's actually a pretty nice job I am a crew leader and we spend a lot of time just driving around. I like driving so it works for me. It's also pretty physically demanding but you adapt to it pretty fast. Some times I have to drive to a place near the ocean and it's a 2.5 hour drive there and back so thats 5 hours of the day doing nothing and getting paid for it. Because of the weather it's 5 8 hour days which I don't like but usually it is 4 10 hour days which is so nice I love 3 days off a week. Best part is the boss isn't around so as long as we get stuff done we can take breaks as much as we want and take an hour lunch and I get paid $11/hr so decent money. Not my dream job but it works until I finish school.

My parents want me to get a job, but most places want you to be over 18 so how the forget am I supposed to do something?

Go to a place where you don't have to be over 18 C:

Persistence is key, I am not a very charming or social guy in RL but I've learned to accept failure and the more jobs you try to get the better your chances of success. Also if you apply for a place and they don't call you always call them just to try and at least get an interview.

Sweet dude! My friend used to help his Dad out with lawn care a few summers ago. I mowed some lawns myself back in the day. Kroger is a temp job for me. It's not gonna cut in for the up and coming collage years of my life. So just out of the blue my friend calls me up and says "Would like to make $10 an hour. Work 35-40 hours a week and get a commissions check at the end of the month?"... He had me at $10 an hour :P Hopefully I'll land this new job. It's listing parts for various things of Ebay for a company. Pretty legit!

But I can't drive, the people that can drive all have jobs. The places I can walk to only hire over 18. I can't do anything and my parents blame me for it

Lol, produce isn't a promotion.

I'm a cashier, been promoted several times with small increases in pay, but being moved to a different area in the store is just being moved to a different area.  I can simply ask to be moved if I wanted to.

It's a promotion to me! I hate dealing with customers. And with produce I take my own breaks and work my own speed. Trust me where I work if you get moved from the front end, they want to keep you for good.

Places like Kroger don't need you to be 18! If you're 14 (and have a workers permit) or 15 and without one you can work at a store like that.

I don't have a Kroger by me and I would need to be able to walk there

Less whining and making excuses more trying to get a job.
