Folklife is basically a huge hippie fest. There's musical performances, dancing, probably some pot, and lots of chill people all just hangin' out in Seattle Center.
Site is here:
http://www.nwfolklife.org/The thing is though, for 2012, my band applied to play! I play drums for a band called the Jalepanos (pronounce ja-lay-pa-noz) and we had just enough time to lay down a demo song, and submit the CD with our application. I'll let you guys know when we find out if we're playing or not.
This is a big deal for us, as we've only ever played at Relay For Life before, and that was basically a different band as it was 7 people. Now it's 3. So it would basically be our first big performance as musical performances are in front of roughly 7,000 attendees.
On the flip side, if we don't get chosen to play on the one day we're available as a band, we can always busk around the festival. For those of you who don't know what busking is, it's where you sit by the side of a sidewalk or walkway or something and play music for donations. It's an encouraged thing at the festival, and we actually do it all the time around our high school (we play for all the ladies ;D).
Discuss! Are any of you in a band?
