Author Topic: Rally cars / variations  (Read 737 times)

I've been playing too much DiRT 3 and would like to see rally cars, or variations of existing cars (such as how Barnabas makes taxi and police versions of his sedan and hatchback) which add features like the above.

I've been thinking about making rally versions of my cars, but they would work better if there was a way to make your car drift when you press the handbrake.

So, somehow change the handling to that similar to a drifting vehicle but only while you're using the brake. If anyone could make that possible, I would love them forever. Twice.

If that just won't happen, perhaps a setting where it has decent but not unreal grip, so it would slide a little but not like the drifting vehicles.

I've had this idea previously. I'm pretty sure that the space key is always brake in vehicles, as mandated by the engine.

My suggestion is to use the crouch key to accomplish the same thing (Should be left shift, for most computers)

Well, the brake would still slow down the wheels anyway, just don't give it a lot of power so you don't come to a halt every time you try to drift through a corner. Then give it a higher enginebrake so you can slow down when you need to just by not pressing forward. Trying to use your crouch button to drift instead of drifting when you use the hard brake (and losing traction as you are (figuratively in this case) locking up the wheels) might be awkward to get used to.

Bumping due to worse-formed rally car thread on the front page >:c

Dude.
This gives me an idea, but due to the collision physics in BL, it wouldn't work out so well.
