Why is it?

Answer:

Breakfast is called Breakfast because in the period you sleep (8-12 hours) you dont eat. And not eating fora prolonged time willingly is called "fasting"
and when your break your fasting, its called Break Fast.

Look at the word. Break fast. You're breaking your fast, which means eating after not eating
