Author Topic: New Xbox Dashboard layout  (Read 1465 times)

I hope someone didn't already make a topic for this...

So, the Xbox came out with a dashboard update. It's now called the Xbox "home", and features full kinect voice recognition and gesture compatibilities.

I think it's cool because the voice commands actually work quite well if anyone has a kinect(I don't use gestures that much). Being able to bing something without using the controller is pretty useful, unless you're binging, like, deadmau5. Whatever.

Speaking of bing, it's pretty cool- You can say "Bing potatoes" and legit- it'll search for every movie, video, and song or game or DLC with potatoes as a keyword. Sometimes it won't recognize it immediately, but it's very useful for finding a movie to watch on Netflix, or to listen to a song on the Zune app.

For anyone without a Kinect, it simplifies the entire menu system so it's a LOT easier to find things than before. There's some new features as well.

Also- Youtube App, HBO, ESPN, and other Tv providers are getting behind the 360, so maybe soon you'll be able to get off of playin' Skyrim and watch some football! America!

Personally, I like it.

I've heard a ton of complaints about bing not working very well and the fact that it's advertising on your console though.

Looks interesting, I have yet to update since I have just learned of this.

Really? I binged some pretty obscure stuff and it recognized it.
Also, if you're too lazy to say it you can just type it out in a second.

Updated the OP with some info.

quite surprisingly, it has some issues with more popular things like "halo".  It comes up with pretty much everything but the game from what I've seen.

I binged Halo and it gave me everything from Marty O'Donnell to Waypoint. Weird.

I'm not saying it's perfect- it's still sort of impractical for some things, but its great feature is that it can be used instantaneously instead of having to switch to it, so you can really quickly search for a movie from your friends profile., etc.

Wow, i sound like a preacher for Microsoft, don't I?
-blush-

I don't care for it, but it works well and it moves around faster(idk how to explain it), so I have no complaints.

I'm loving it. I'm also loving the ability to password your gamertag.

I don't like how they kinda screwed with Indie devs, though.

!!!!
how?

Oh... I should turn on my Xbox. I don't have room for KINECT, it'd be useless to me. My brother moved out, so I might have room, but he's supposed to be coming back next year, and I'd rather not have to shelf it when he takes up the other half of the room again.
