I have an iTouch first gen and it's stuck on iOS 2. Is there a solution that doesn't involve jailbreaking?

iPod 2G's and below can't get the iOS 5 update.

I'm pretty sure only the 4th Gen can have it. Which is pretty handicapped. Because that's the most expensive. =( That's why I asked for that one.
