I MADE A NICE POLL THREAD WITHOUT THE FLAME WAR. WHY WOULD SOMEONE DO THIS?

i'm a scientist.

i dont care for titles or whatnot

i follow the belief that nothing is true until you question it over and over and get the answer

then question it some more

I believe in a religion in which everyone gets reincarnated as another human being except people who make these kinds of threads. They get a personalized hell, tailored to everything they find unpleasant or undesirable so as to make it the worst possible experience.

Lack of belief is just not assuming deities exist, whereas believing no deities exist is an assertion.
But atheism can refer to either. That is the definition (or at least part of it), and arguing otherwise is basically saying the English language is wrong. :/

If you say "There is no God" you are asserting you believe there is no God. You are making a claim, even if it is a negative. You can believe in the negative of another belief; it may not make much sense, and there may be no proof inside of it, but you can. If you lack a belief in a god or in God, you would say nothing at all. And more people, at least that I have come across, tend to be the former rather than the latter.

i love the requirements needed to be "of a religion"

- my parents are, therefore so am i
- my parents took me to church every week when i was like 5-12 years old, therefore i am.
- i am X ethnicity, therefore i am X religion.

knowledge, practicing, or even actual faith seems to have nothing to do with it.

officially, the catholics claim everyone who has ever stepped into a church of theirs lol. you get lost and need directions, dont even speak english, dont even know what building you are in. suddenly you are part of the club lol

I dont really care what happens when we die, but I have a tendency to believe we are reincarnated

I naturally believe in reincarnation.

it just feels right.
One thing I want to know is how God existed before the concept of him existing, time, gravity, and matter, etc. Existed. He must have been some sort of matter(Well this can't be possible since matter didn't exist) that kept ripping itself(Nope no physics, so this is impossible) and reoccurring(But time didn't exist, what?), but this can't happen since physics didn't exist. Can someone explain to me how this works, my mind is so confuzzled. I'm deciding on whether to just shift to atheism though since Christianity does not make any sense at all to me.
I suppose God isn't formed by physical bounds. Why would God restrain himself under his own laws of physics?

Atheism isn't a religious belief, it's the opposite of it.

Isn't time a man-made concept to record things though? Or do I have something wrong here.

We haven't proved either way, it may be its own dimension, it may not exist. But then again we haven't even proved we live in three dimensions lol.

i like how i'm the only one who [admits that he] is jewish
