Author Topic: Improved music support  (Read 1007 times)

I thought it would be nice for Blockland to accept .ogg files over 1MB and/or stereo music.

EDIT: And if this can't/shouldn't happen, why not?

If im correct, badspot did this to prevent full songs.
So this probably wont happen.

The limit wasn't always there.

It was put there so people stop using full length songs. Not only is it a major problem with rights and such, but it's also a problem when you have 30 8-minute tracks on your server and wondering why no one is ever spawning.

Okay. I just wondered if there was an add-on for it or something.

Also, why couldn't there be stereo support?

Stereo music breaks the "3D effect" of music bricks wherein the closer you get to the brick, the louder the music is. Now, what you COULD do is separate the left channel from the right and make them two distinct .OGG files, then make a "stereo" in-game with two music bricks close to each other and use events so the channels sync up.

As for songs >1 MB, not gonna happen. I think a lot of people (including me) don't remember what music bricks were actually originally FOR: generic loops which add ambience to an environment.

Okay, thank you for clarifying that for me.
