I've had McAfee.
All it did was block about half the images I saw on the internet and replace it with "MCAFEE."

Kaspersky/MSE is the way to go. Kaspersky is a bit overprotective sometimes (calling literally everything I start a keylogger), but it's not that bad, once you get used to it.

I got this pretty cool anti-virus software, it's called "Common Sense 2011"

I'm thinking of upgrading to the 2012 version sometime soon

I use that in combination with MSE. Though I haven't actually ever had MSE find a problem, probably because Common Sense is a really good anti-virus.

Have you tried only having one installed at a time?
Having both creates all sorts of problems.
This is true with most anti-virus combinations.

I use Trend Micro. Its just about the best IMO.
Blocks any websites that could "cause a potential threat" as it says.
Scans files 'n all that stuff just like any other loving antivirus derpherp. Its pretty good though. Its only 20 or 30 dollars but its worth it.
