"I don't trust him, but go ahead and try anyway." Darx answered. He seemed unsure of our plan but willing to try it at the same time.
I nodded at him, then suggested, "I think we should all go to bed. It's about 9:00 PM, according to my watch, and we're all extremely tired. As far as I know, this airport is pretty safe. I think we'll be fine overnight."
Alyx yawned in agreement, and Darx nodded. Michelle did the same.
While they all walked to the gates, I decided to grab a slice of pizza and a plastic cup of water to give to Wylde. He has needs just like us, and I'm not one to let somebody starve to death.
I banged on the door of the restaurant. He was sitting on the floor cleaning his knife, when he looked up at me. "Nice of you to show up."
I slowly unlocked the door, and opened it. I walked inside.
"You and me are going to have a talk. You're going to give the knife to me, and I will give you your food. You are going to tell me why you disappeared the day we saw you running from the mall."
Wylde thought about it a moment, and said no.
"Fine. Just take the food."
I gave him the pizza and water, and walked out of the empty restaurant. I then locked the door again.
I walked towards Michelle's gate. The gate was reserved for a jetBlue flight from Phoenix. It was presumed that it hadn't arrived the time of the infection, as the very dim screen glowed 'Delayed; Departure time now 5:25 PM'.
Michelle was sitting by the window looking up at the stars. I sat down next to her.
"Nathan, do you ever wonder if somewhere out there, somebody you know is still alive and not some mindless flesh eater?" She asked inquisitively.
"All the time, Michelle. All the time."
She looked at me. "Who?"
"My parents." Michelle turned to face me. "The same with me." She smiled.
I smiled back. I stood up and said goodnight before walking to gate A3, the gate for the American Airlines flight to Miami.
I settled onto a row of chairs, and fell asleep almost immediately.
