Author Topic: Why don't people join my server?  (Read 2001 times)

I never got anyone to join and I always port foward

No one really comes to my server. /brohug

Nobody wants to go to a boring or pointless server

Nobody CAN join
Like, the load is extended and when you join, you lag for about 30 seconds straight before getting timed out.

Damn you mediacom.
Damn you.

I think the largest "problem" is most people don't just surf the server list, they order it by population and look where most people are first.  If yours only has 1 out of 32, nobody will notice.  This happens to me all the time.

Add RP to the name. That should get a few people.

Give it a few hours/days for people to sink in and start joining alot, you need to let your guests know your server is good and keep them intertained or they won't go back.

I'll be hosting servers with names like fgbjggntvkphdg just cause I'm testing a weapon real quick and yet like 4 people join the first minute. Then when I'm hosting an Arctic Warfare TDM or something like that I get nothing.

Weird the FIRST time I hosted something I got 32/32 people
It was a noob trapping server

You've probably hosted something intertaining in the past.

Oh wait yes I have, people have found my server thanks to this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnZQ6KP6Dzc&feature=channel_video_title

The most successful servers I've ever hosted are ones where the initial activity is not dependent on server popularity. In my case, a 'maze world' 2 years ago got 16 people (never had that many since) and my recent Mini Empires server hit 11 at one point. All TDMs I've ever hosted take forever to get 1 person to come, and unless you get 3 or 4 it's no fun and you might as well join someone else's server. After that it's a lag-fest influx of connection requests.

Alternatively, you can say 'Free Admin' which guarantees a few mindless noobs will come, and then remove that tag when you have 5 people or so. Of course, manual admin only, and you can always de-admin for no apparent reason ;)

I hosted rock climbing wall a while back and got like 17 people, then the server crashed.
