So it says on the cartridge that it works for mac, but since I bought this game such a long time ago, the os is too new.

I want to play SPORE with decent fps. How can I get it to work on my mac?

Check the system requirements, then your specs, it's rather specific on what it wants as for requirements.

..after trying to install. Last time was like over 6 months ago.

Install seems like it worked fine. Hope all the patches will be the same, just fine.

Installed all updates and stuff.
When I open it up, it takes like 2 sec, then this screen shows up for like 4 sec:

After it closes down, nothing more happens.

Did you check the requirements after trying to install like Sabbin said or did you forget and plunge straight into the game.

on a mac, click the apple in the top left corner and click 'about this mac', and then it should have a button that says "more info.." or something. you can then see all of your system specs.

I had the same problem with Spore for two years before I could play it stably. In the end it didn't work for me until I got a new computer, I hope it doesn't turn out like that for you.

Anyway, best of luck in getting it to work. I went through the same thing but it ended up being all the more fun after trying for so long to get it to work.

google helps. it's a file that for some reason (no loving clue why) crashes it.

If you have OS Lion, you should know that it doesn't support PowerPC. If this game runs on it, then you're screwed.

I wasn't supposed to download all the updates at the same time.

Updates break everything. I'm still on the version you get when you install the game for the first time because of weird graphical glitches and freezes.
