Author Topic: Game companies don't know what 'true' fear is - What would scare you stuffless?  (Read 5140 times)

Nothing is original anymore.

Also, no big fuking monsters.

I'd be more scared to find a monster hidden under a table than seeing a giant monster walk over the city.

I would be scared if the entire game was mostly empty, then you would get paranoid about little things trying to kill you, because you haven't seen one in like 15 minutes.

Put stuff like Master in it from Fallout 1 THAT SCARED THE stuff OUT OF ME!
Fallout was scary because I thought I was gonna get owned by some guy every time I got in a fight.

Old silent hill games seem scary.

amnesia, penumbra, etc.

Ravenholm scared me. Maybe because it was 1:30 AM and it was extremely dark out.

Ravenholm scared me. Maybe because it was 1:30 AM and it was extremely dark out.

The main thing that freaked me out about Ravenholm was I couldn't figure out where I was going. I'd find these platforms between buildings, walk across, and think I can't any further, but it felt like I should. I'd drop down not remembering if I was already in the area I just dropped into, and I might have to fight through like 60 more zombies to get back where I was. But I made it out without getting too lost...

Ravenholm...
That howl...
That loving howl!

The fact is Dead Space ruined everything. It's truly an action game but they dimmed down the lighting and added gore and said, "loel horror gaems."

Exmortis
Time and time again I try to play this game.  And I fail.  I just get so intimidated by everything in it.

Played both?

Penumbra and Amnesia is really the only true scary game I've played.
