Author Topic: Barack Obama Wins Election, Remains President of the United States of America  (Read 4995 times)

Whoops. Sorry guys, I don't remember posting this. I just checked the posting date and it appears that I inadvertently posted this topic from the future.

I'm sorry for spoiling the election guys :(

Call in the back to the future guy so we can stop his election!

Basically what Otis said.
I'll probably vote for obama next year. Don't think any of the possible republican nominees have what I want, so I'll settle for Obama even though he's not ideal.

This, precisely.

I don't think Obama is that good of a president, but each election as far back as I remember the Republican candidates have been making Christianity a bigger point of their platform. I guess it's to appeal to the large number of religious elderly and baby boom voters. The problem is that religion has been becoming less important with each new generation of people. Once all the elderly have been long dead and the Republicans try to pander to whatever the largest group of voters is they're going to have this hanging over their heads. There's also the problem that they like to pretend the growing population of Hispanic voters doesn't exist or when they do acknowledge them it's to tell them to go back to Mexico.
This

I'm really dreading the upcoming election as I feel that any of the candidates I vote for will somehow forget up majorly

Well, whatever you do, don't vote for psychotic dwarves with a bad case of Napoleon complex. Actually, don't vote for any nut-jobs, they will forget you over hard.

Wouldn't work. Looks like someone didn't take economics class.
How would it not work?

My reaction, until I found out that it was just a joke, but then I remembered that it's going to happen anyway, so it's still my reaction.

All the Republicans are just blithering morons.  Anyone who keeps scooping their poop out of the toilet and flinging it at Obama is also a moron.

How would it not work?
Robots cost money and require maintanence. You also have to take in the cost of coal and fossil fuels for things such as Electricity, gas for hot water, and running water.

They don't cost money if it is one society and you can have robots maintain robots. With a team of about three robots they can infinitely repair each other, when you add more you just get failsafes and efficiency.

Also, solar power can do a lot of the work, and if we are in the future we could theoretically make robots just as efficient at energy use as humans.

What about cloudy days, night time, or underground.

There are other sources of energy, hence the second 'paragraph'.

We could just give them ATP or Glucose or whatever form of energy we feel. Perhaps even small nuclear reactors.

I could see something like Doomonkey described happening in the far far future when we're better able to manage resources and the general population, but now it unfortunately won't happen. :(

Still not that easy. A set wage is more what I'm talking about. With a set wage, there is no true motivation to work, and technology production would decline drastically. There goes your self repairing robots.
