Author Topic: YorkTown95's CityRPG Server v2. (Will consider re-opening this)  (Read 109194 times)

The database has had over 500 keys stored in it.
I estimate it probably had around 700 keys around when it went corrupted.
Keys are your BLID and your data on the server.
In order to prevent it from being to big I have decided to script a function that removes blank keys from the database.

So, in a essence, is the data from today recoverable?

No. The data would of been lost eventually when the server went down.

The server is now back up to the public, the data shouldn't mess up this time.

EDIT: Also the rules has been updated, and will be placed in the server soon:
Quote from: Server Rules
This is a list of Rules:
Build Rules:
Build Rule #1: No spam, that includes 1x1x5, 1x1F, 1x1, baseplate stacking.
Build Rule #2: Buildings that are box shaped, have few or no windows and/or 1 or no door will be deleted. (A simple roof fixes this)
Build Rule #3: Do not use a lot of bricks (at least 35 bricks) to make a wall.
Build Rule #4: Tiles are okay, but has to be at least 16x16.
Build Rule #5: Non-Admins may not have a infoblock (excluding the ATM brick) in there builds(This includes, bank bricks, police bricks, jail spawns ect.).
Build Rule #6: Builds may not have kill events, they may have events that remove damage over time but the victim must have time to escape.
Build Rule #7: All vehicles must be under a covered room or on a driveway, vehicles may not be on the roof of your house.
Build Rule #8: Elevators may only consist of 5-6 floors. This is to prevent event spamming.
Build Rule #9: Inactive builds (builds that hasn't been used for over a week) will be deleted. (unless you leave us a note about your inactivity)
Build Rule #10: Builds must be in grid with every build.
Build Rule #11: No everhanging bricks into other lot areas.
Build Rule #12: No excessive lights or emitters, emmiters that lead into other lot areas.

Industrial Rules:
Industrial Rule #1: ALL Industrial lots MUST be in the industrial zone (it cannot be in the city/town limits), these lots are not refundable. (Red ownership name == Industrial lot)
Industrial Rule #2: It has to be a industrial looking like building/facility.

Server rules:
Server Rule #1: You must follow all directions what an admin enforces you to do.
Server Rule #2: Respect ALL players/admins in the server (And I'm serious about this rule).
Server Rule #3: Do not shoot/kill/bother admins when they are busy assisting a player or he is improving the server (which he will be building).
Server Rule #4: It is OK to jail admins no matter what, but however server rule #3 is enforced.
Server Rule #5: Any sort of drama WILL BE taken seriously, so don't start any non-sense.
Server Rule #6: An Admin can enforce build rules at ANY time. So always check to make sure your build compiles with the building rules. Illegal builds will be deleted. If the person is a 3rd time offender they may be banned.
Server Rule #7: Be courteous to other players about their builds, and no yelling and argueing with people whatsoever.
Server Rule #8: No spawnkilling/jailing, mass killing sprees, and baiting whatsoever.

NOTE: Keep in mind that just because that its not in the rules, if you think that it will get you banned, don't even bother do it at all. Use common sense.

Cool. By the way, what happened to the /exp command?

The only reason ticks are laggy is because of all the data the database system has to save.
During the next few days a new database system will be developed. This means that all data may or may not be reset.
I'll try the best I can to convert the data to the new system I am developing.

Also, I've been getting complaints about the data being lost (Lost the exp, money, such), like what jasa said, it was recovered 4 days ago, I've had the same feeling when I lost my data from diggy's server, but I didn't complain at all.

At least we didn't restart the whole entire server, if you wanted that instead.

No we are all happy we still have some of what we earned.

I just wanted to say that I was a player of 2 days so everything I did (apart from a build) was erased, but the server administration helped me restore some sense of my progress, so I am personally pleased with how it was handled.

This is a summary of everything wrong with your server. Change it if you want, but if you don't, it's your loss:

  • Laborer weapons are lethal. This is gamebreaking because it takes absolutely no money to murder someone in 5 seconds. Sure it would be slightly unrealistic to remove damage, but it will improve the game exponentially.
  • The only job you can get when starting the game is one where you hammer plastic trees for cash. I'm not going to write out a completely separate job tree for you because it's too much work. Let Jasa figure it out himself. Hint though: If it has anything to do with fighting, you're doing it wrong.
  • Laborers aren't protected. It seems ridiculous to bring up realism after just refuting it, but in this case it improves gameplay. Laborers should be in their own special camp with walls and stuff. This problem is further escalated by laborers having to drop all their lumber/ore when they die.

I could probably find more issues if I was able to further progress through the game, but the 1st issue on the list + Chriso pretty much made that impossible.

As you may of noticed, you're not required to start as a laborer, you can start as the "Rookie" job, it is a low tier of the "Policeman" job. I don't recall a Laborer going to go kill everyone in the city using a melee weapon, but he can be jailed easily.

Not really I just go steal cars and run people over, then again anyone can do that.

Thats not CityRPG though is it, no more than Grand Theft Auto is Sim City.

I always setup a business and provide building or eventing services to people and get paid that way.

doesn't fix the damage because the convict still has all the stolen materials.

remove the damage.

remove the damage.
That might not happen, having some sort of "Special camp" is not the best choice, unless you cannot lose 75% of your resources, thats going to be a suggestion.

I read the statement wrong, so I edited this post.
